Mini-van Mama
Darrin's grandmother Hazel Campbell passed away last week so we got to test out the new Odyssey with a trip to Harrisonburg, VA for the funeral. Although the reason for our visit was not so happy, we did have a good time visiting with family and friends. I was so excited to visit my friend Cara Kauffman (Wagler) while we were up. Cara and I were Bible Memory Camp buddies since grade school and I hadn't seen her for years. It was great to catch up with her and meet her husband, Tyler.
Wyatt had his two-month well visit last week. Below are his stats: Weight: 11lbs 14oz (77% percentile) Height: 24.25 inches (96% percentile) Head circumference: 16.25 inches (91% percentile
Well, that's about it. We had a great Thanksgiving, the weather's really nice, and Wyatt slept 8 hours straight (10pm-6am) last night...life is good. :o)

2,222 miles later...
We really enjoyed spending time with the extended Campbell family and taking in the beautiful fall foliage during the drive. Wyatt especially enjoyed meeting his Aunt Crystal, Uncle Paul, and cousins Charis and Gabby for the first time. Thanks again Petriks for letting us stay with you guys...we had a great time! :o)
We also got to visit with our good friends Travis & Sarah Hostetler who recently moved from Sarasota to Charlotte. We miss them terribly but were glad to get a chance to see them again.
Below is a list of things we learned from traveling with a 7 week-old:
1) Wyatt does not like to sleep in a different place every night (even though he was in the same pack-n-play). He did surprise us by sleeping a 7-hour stretch Sunday evening but he more than made up for it on Monday by pulling an all-nighter. Note to self: pack earplugs for the next road trip.
2) You should never say never. Even though our Mercedes C240 has four doors, it is not a family car. Darrin & I both said that we would never drive a mini-van but we have come to see the error of our thinking and are going to test drive some mini-vans this evening.
3) Infants' regularity gets messed up on trips, too. I will refrain from going into more detail on that one...your imagination can fill in the blanks.

We finally figured out where Wyatt gets his good looks from :o)
Wyatt is still quite the ladies' man :o)

Our cute 'little man'
Wyatt's first "little man" clothes
It was soooo cold here this morning. I think it actually dipped below 50...brrrr. I had to bundle Wyatt up in a jacket for the first time. We went over to Aunt Joy's this morning. She watched Wyatt while I went to a dentist appointment. I think he had a good time...he just slept and farted (his usual morning routine) :o) Thanks again Aunt Joy for taking such good care of him!
Bundled up for the cold morning
When you have a few minutes, I encourage you to watch the video below. It really brings life into proper perspective. I am overwhelmed with how lucky Darrin and I are to have such a wonderful healthy baby boy. I don't know why God has blessed us so much but we are grateful for every single day, every toothless smile, and even every dirty diaper. We love you Wyatt!

Fun, sun, birds, gators, & rays
We wrapped up the day by ordering pizza and watching the Rays get beat by Boston. Darrin was out of town this weekend with our church youth group tubing up at Ginnie Springs so it was nice to have the extra hands around to help with Wyatt. Abby and Emma did a great job of helping to hold Wyatt.

That's all for now. Oh, by the way, we are officially Rays fans now that they finally won and are going to the World Series. Go Rays! :o)

Swirling sand and sawing logs
Today we went to the beach with Greta & Shawn. It was quite the eventful trip. I had set up our big umbrella so that it blocked the sun and breeze and then laid Wyatt down on a blanket to sleep under its protection. All was well until a sudden gust of air swirled some sand around the umbrella and left a fine dusting of sand all over Wyatt. I almost hit the panic button. Luckily Greta was quick with the wipes and I got his poor little face wiped off before any got in his eyes or mouth (or at least I don't think any got in there).
The second event of the day occured while we were eating some sandwiches. I was sitting in my beach chair with Wyatt on my right arm and holding a ham sandwich with my left hand. I had just taken a second bite out of sandwich when a dumb bird swooped down and snatched the entire sandwich out of my hand. This time I did hit the panic button. I started shrieking and yelling semi-obscenities at the cluster of birds devouring my sandwich a few yards away. Poor Wyatt was rudely awakened from his sleep and I succeded in permantly destroying my niece Abby's relationship to anything with feathers. She is now deathly afraid of birds and spent the rest of the day paranoid that one of the birds would swoop down and get her (or her sandwich, or her soda, or her chips, and so on and so forth). I officially apologize to Greta & Shawn for scarring their firstborn child for life. I will spend the rest of the week attempting to undo the damage.
Below is some footage I shot this morning. Make sure the volume on your computer is turned up when you view. Wyatt is starting to sound a little like his Grandpa Yoder. :o)

Do these people look familiar???
I came across these pictures of Melvin Jones and Fanny Smith from a 1960 yearbook...is it just me or do they look familiar? I can't quite put my finger on who they remind me of. I'm sure it's some movie star because they are both so good looking. :o)
Wyatt went to church for the first time on Sunday. It was so nice to be back in church after being at home for two weeks. Wyatt did a great job. I put him in the sling and aside from a few grunts he was quiet and pretty well slept through the entire morning.
Yesterday was pretty uneventful. I tried to clean the master bathroom but didn't get too far. Who would have thought that it would take 2 days to clean one bathroom. :o) The biggest event of the day happened last night when Darrin was burping Wyatt in our bedroom. Wyatt had his official first diaper blow-out and it smeared on our (white) bedspread and Darrin's shorts. It was quite hilarious. Luckily the Spray N' Wash worked its magic and there is no longer any mustard yellow evidence left to mark the event.
Today we met Jill & Baby Ella at the new Kohl's on University to do a little shopping. I got Wyatt some little pants and I bought myself a new pair of shoes. I've decided to limit my shopping to shoes and handbags for the time being as these are two things that I can wear regardless of what size I am. :o)
Wyatt chillin' out with Daddy after a big burp (look how fat his little belly is getting)
We lost the instruction guide for the Bumbo seat - are 2 week olds supposed to sit in these things???
Check out the monsterous feet...I think he's going to be a big boy. :o)

Firsts
Today was another day of firsts. This morning we decided to take Wyatt to the beach. He slept so well last night (I fed him at 11:00pm and he only woke up at 4:00am and 7:00am) that Darrin and I woke up feeling really good so we packed up and headed to the beach. It was such a beautiful morning. The weather could not be any nicer (low 80s, slight breeze, and bright blue skies). We put him in the sling and then took a nice walk along the shore. I think Wyatt liked the beach (although he never technically opened his eyes at any point while we were there).
Wyatt absolutely loves the sling
First trip to the beach
Well, I gotta go. The little man is getting hungry (again)! :o)
